FRANCIS’ ADVENTURES

Cardiff Bay Fun Run 2024

On the 19th May 2024 Francis took part in the Cardiff Bay 2k fun run with his big sister Lilli-Mai, Francis was very vocal during the run and enjoyed every minute of it, everyone was friendly towards him and many were calling his name and giving him high 5’s as he went around.

Francis had smiles for everyone and plenty to say (in his own unique way), we all made the most of the fresh air and the sun, Francis even managed a respectable time of just over 17 minutes ably assisted by Bampi who wished he was 20 years younger, his sister Lilli-Mai completed the course in a little over 13 minutes which was a magnificent achievement as it was her first ever race.

LOURDES 2024

Francis together with his family went to Lourdes in August 2024, it was a fantastic place to visit and everyone was very accommodating and helpful, he visited the Lourdes site a number of times, going to the grotto, mass for the sick and candle mass to name but a few adventures, we all stayed in a Villa just on the outskirts of the town, this had its own pool that Francis really enjoyed, we went on many family outings including to a ruined mountain top Chateau which had an excellent bird of prey display where the birds flew just a few inches above everyone. Another day out was to a local zoo where Francis enjoyed looking at the various animals at close proximity, we found France to be very disability friendly and never once felt we were a burden to anyone. Francis seemed to make friends with everyone he met and really enjoyed the whole holiday, even a few nights on the ferry was an enjoyable experience.

Oshi’s World at Tanio (Sensory Theatre)

Francis was luckily to be invited to a Sensory Theatre, he was one of two children to attend the performance he went to and he was totally engaged with all of the actors from start to finish, from music to sensory items to singing he enjoyed every minute of the performance, each member of the cast spent time with Francis, be it music (Guitar, Clarinet, Harp etc), they all gave Francis time to listen and feel the music, they made him feel like he was part of the performance and not just a spectator, we are all looking forward to the next event.
